Selling Pitfalls to Avoid

You love your home and can’t think of why others won’t love it at first sight too. They just might if you stay away from the following traps.

You lack the marketing paraphernalia and technology that makes it ever so simple.

These days it’s tough for a real estate agent to merely post your listing with a Multiple Listing Service (MLS), hold a half-hearted open house and wait for another agent to bring forward a buyer.  If things were this easy then homebuyers and sellers wouldn’t really need an agent, but the internet has changed the rules of the game.

  1. More than 1/3 of all homebuyers use the internet for house hunting.
  2. 90% of all buyers with incomes over $100,000 begin their search for a new home online.

The best real estate agents are computer savvy and utilize email and internet marketing to feature listings, virtual tours and reports that track the progress of sales.

Aggressive Selling Tactics May Scare Away Buyers

Buying a home is a big investment and a decision which requires a lot of careful thought.  Try not to sound too anxious in your conversations with potential buyers.  Expect and be prepared for questions and provide honest and thorough responses.

Over-Decorating to Conform to Your Taste

Keep in mind, the buyer would like to imagine the home according to their tastes, colors and settings.

  1. Keep the decoration and additional arrangements to a minimum.
  2. Allow the buyer to see as much of the home minus your personal belongings as possible.
  3. It’s sometimes a good idea not to be present when the buyer comes to see the home.  This will make them feel more comfortable to look around and inspect the house.

These tips can be very useful during the selling process.  We’d like to invite you to make use of Granite Equity Group’s time-tested skills and unfailing service.  Please contact us if you have any questions on how we can assist with your selling experience.
